Barack Obama‘s documentarian Amy Rice has signed up to direct Lindsay Lohan‘s reality TV show for Oprah Winfrey‘s OWN network.

Amy – who directed the 2009 documentary ‘By the People: The Election of Barack Obama’ – will go behind the camera for the eight-part documentary for Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network, which is set to air in 2014, the network announced at the TCA (Television Critic’s Association) press tour.

OWN president Erik Logan said: ‘Part of what makes this opportunity very exciting [is] because I don’t think it’s gonna be anything that anybody expects.

‘We have a great partner with Lindsay’s manager and her team. They’ve been very collaborative and I think they’re all aligned with potentially what we want to accomplish, so we’re excited about getting to work about it.’

It was recently revealed when Lindsay films the TV specials – after she completes her court ordered 90-day stint in rehab – she will be given two assistants to wait on her hand and foot as well as a personal stylist to ensure she looks her best on set.

The series will focus on the ‘Mean Girls’ star’s past struggles with addictions and fame, as well as her film career and her hopes for the future. The actress is said to have signed the deal with Oprah at the Betty Ford Clinic even before she was properly on the road to recovery. Lindsay’s mother Dina is thrilled her daughter is set to follow in the footsteps of Lance Armstrong and Rihanna by being given a chance to tell Oprah her story.
