The current Miss Ghana, Naa Okailey Shooter’s reign comes to an end as she gets ready to hand over her crown to a new queen come this Saturday at the State House Banquet Hall in Accra.

Twenty beauties are vying for the 2013 Miss Ghana title after eight weeks of grooming, mentoring, skills training and development.

Miss Shooter who sounded excited when she spoke to Showbiz last Tuesday wished all the ladies well. She said that the contestants must not just display their beauty but their intelligence as well.

The 20 ladies vying for the crown are Crystal, Zuleiya, Maame Serwaa, Angela, Golda, Chantell, Anwity, Destiny, Emelda, Michelle, Selasie, Maureen, Safoa, Guisepine, Sylvia, Belinda, Nadia, Matilda, Margaret and Jasmine.

Meanwhile, Miss World 2012 Ivian Sarcos and the Chairwoman of the Miss World organisation, Julia Morley arrived in the country last Monday on a one week visit.

During their stay, they are scheduled to visit the Northern Region to support the ongoing Miss Ghana foundation projects which include the construction of boreholes at the Nabuli and Leili Witch Camps.

The Foundation is also involved in infant maternal mortality projects such as the renovation of the fourth floor of the maternity block of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, which the Miss Ghana Foundation is raising funds towards.

On Tuesday, the team paid a courtesy call on President John Mahama and to crown the  exciting one-week visit, the Miss World team will attend the finals of the Miss Ghana 2013 pageant/Beauty With a Purpose Charity Ball. Miss Ivian Sarcos is expected to be a judge at the finals on Saturday.

The winner will walk away with a brand new car, cash prize, one year full-time service with Miss Ghana Foundation, one year accommodation at the Miss Ghana House donated by Manet Properties among other prizes.

The first runner-up will also have an official car to be used for one year, a year full time service with the Miss Ghana Foundation, a year accommodation at the Miss Ghana Official House and a cash prize.

The second-runner up will receive an official car to be used for a year, a year accommodation at the Miss Ghana Official House and a cash prize.

The publicist for Exclusive Events Ghana, the organisers of the Miss Ghana pageant, Obed Boafo promised a thrilling show at the finals. ‘Come and support your favourite contestant to victory’ he said.

Kwabena  Kwabena, Sherifa Gunu and renowned saxophonist Steve Bedi are the artistes billed to perform on the night.
